David Swart

David Swart

Started tying in 1977 on the North Umpqua river. Kind of had no choice, it was either tie flies and fly fish or sit around and watch the sunset, not a hard choice! Got hooked on stellies and trout till I joined the navy in 1982. Had a small period where I stopped tying but felt the pull and had to go back.

Fished for bass, chain pickeral, trout, stellies, and yes salmon. Always willing to learn/try a new species of fish. Love the aspect of taking fur and feathers and making bugs and catching fish. Always belived in the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid). I now tie for the local fly shop and like being asked for advise on the sport of fly fishing/flytying. Gladly like sharing ideas on the sport, and meeting masters of the sport and picking their minds for ideas and theory's. Thank you for allowing me and other tyer's the chance to share patterns/ideas.
